Camp - Tie-dying

The girls and leaders had a lot of fun tie-dying a variety of things. There were shirts, socks, and even some boxers. They all turned out really cute.

Quick Camp Recap

What a blast we had at girls camp. We tie-dyed, hiked, rafted down the river, stayed up way too late and just had a lot of fun. We want to thank the priesthood brethren that came up to camp. They endured a lot while at camp like the girls painting their fingernails, having a mouse run across their head in the middle of the night, getting knocked into a river and listening to us silly girls laugh until the wee hours. They even cooked a delicious dutch oven dinner for us. They were good sports about it all. I just hope we didn't scare them away from volunteering again in the future.

If you have any pictures of camp that you would like us to put on our blog get them to Sis. Killpack or one of the other leaders and we'll get them posted. I know there were a lot of great pictures taken.

River Rafting at Girls Camp July 2009

 

As you can see by the pictures we had a blast river rafting. Our first raft of leaders and YW survived THE BRIDGE OF DEATH. Thank goodness. A bit of a scary experience for them but they "stayed the course" and got back in the raft after it tipped over and got stuck on the bridge and they even lost their paddles oh and some shoes. They all swam safely to shore. I am sure they were freezing but they finished rafting the river. We are so proud of them. Sister Braun seemed to have the worst injury with a good cut to her foot but thanks to Sister Mason and Sister Killpack she didn't need stiches, just a tetnus shot and some antibiotics. Some of the other girls ended up with a few scratches and have a great story to tell. We love you all.

Congratulations!!

Just wanted to congratulate LuAnn on receiving her Young Womanhood Recognition Award on Sunday. We are so proud of all the work she did to receive this award.

Welcome Chabrise

We want to welcome Chebrise to our ward. She has just moved here from Pleasant Grove and we are excited to have her in Young Womens with us.

Welcome Olivia!

Olivia had a birthday yesterday and is now our newest Beehive. We are so excited to have her in Young Womens.

Culture Night

On Wednesday Brother Toelupe came and taught the young women about his Samoan culture. He taught them a dance and brought yummy food to sample. I took some pictures, but unfortunately I didn't notice that my camera was on the wrong setting so the pictures turned out blurry. I will post them anyway. If you squint maybe they will look in focus.

Ice Skating

The young women and young men had a great time ice skating for their combined activity. There was a lot of falling, but everyone seemed to have fun. Here are a few pictures that Bishop took of the night.

Beehive Salon Night

For our weekly activity the beehives went to the beauty school to get their hair styled. They had fun and their hair looked really cute.

For our weekly activity we went to the beauty school here in town to have the girls get their hair done. You can tell by the pictures they had a fun time and loved their hair do's. It was fun to see the different styles on all the girls.

 

Personal Progress Challenge

Last week Sister Kuhni issued a challenge to all of the young women that have not yet received their Young Woman Medallion. The challenge is to complete 1 item in Divine Nature by March 8. Once you complete an item, please call or email Sister Kuhni kuhni2009@comcast.net . There will be a treat for those who meet the challenge.

Congratulations to Aubrey. She has completed all of her personal progress requirements and received her Young Woman Medallion.

New Beginnings

Our theme this year for New Beginnings was Soulvivor. It turned out to be a fun night with games and lots of laughter. We were able to get to know more about Olivia and Angela and we are excited to have them join us in Young Womens this year.

Cross Country Skiing

Our January combined YM/YW activity was a lot of fun. We went cross country skiing at Aspen Grove. It was dark and some of us had a few falls, but all in all it was a great experience. Many of the leaders had headlamps and as long as we followed the light we knew we were going the right way. Just like in life, Christ is our light and if we follow him he will lead us to our ultimate goal of returning to live with our Heavenly Father.
